Can you reconfigure a Topcon total station to operate at something other than 1200 baud? If so how?
I have a Parani SD1000 BT adapter which I'm trying to link up to one and the lowest baud rate (understandably) is 2400 baud. But everywhere I look it appears the Topcon Total station only runs at 1200 baud.
Thanks for the help, Lance
Most newer topcons will allow 9600 baud, should fined it in the topcon com setup for rs232
I think you can configure the paranis to 1200 using the configuration software instead of the dip switches. Older topcons are fixed at 1200 as far as I know and 7 bit parity (and I can't remember if it's even or odd of the top of my head, but I think it's opposite whatever standard convention is).

7 E None (data bits, parity, stop bits, respectively).
:good:
Lance,
Is that an older Topcon? If Jim is right, and he usually is, than it will not work. To quote the manual
Parani-SD1000 supports only 8 data bit. In the case of 7 data bit and even/odd parity, use SD 8 data
bit and none parity. At this time, master and slave are Parani-SD, Parani-ESD or Parani-MSP series.
But 7 data bit and none parity is not support.
Did you try S/W setting?
Scott
Thanks on the Manual link, I did find that I can override the dip settings and get 1200 baud using the software program... the 7 data bits, is the next challenge...
