I am hoping that someone has a quick answer to this one or has seen this before.
We are using a Topcon PS robot with a FC-2600 controller. This set up has worked pretty seamlessly up until a couple days ago. Now when you use the RC-5 search button to tell the gun to search for the prism it is not finding it. The RC-5, the collector and the instrument are all communicating with each other but it will not complete a prism search any longer with the RC-5 which is the quickest way to get lock; now the gun just spins in a search pattern.
I can still turn the instrument manually or with the collector toggles and then lock onto the prism which works fine. Or I can hit the prism search button and that seems to work as well.
Never had this problem before so figured I would ask before I go re-setting the equipment and screwing things up more!
Thanks in advance.
Try removing the handle and cleaning the contacts.
Wow - that was fast!
Thanks Stephen, I will give that a shot.
Worked like a charm! Strange since the contacts did not necessarily look dirty and it just stopped working during a job.
But, we have been using it at a lot of sites with blowing dust/dirt.
Thanks again!
According to my dealer that is the number one fix for communication/function issues with the 9003/RC3 combo. Not a far stretch to think that the PS would suffer from similar issues. Glad it worked for you.
Huh, we also use the 9000 series (although since we got the PS no one wants to use the 9000 much anymore) and never had that problem with the 9000. Other problems but not that one!
Thanks again, you saved me a bunch of troubleshooting for a very easy fix.
yep, had that problem many times.
Yep. It's happened to me a couple of times.

Seems like a good opportunity to drop a quarter in the tip jar in Stephen's honor.
Good call Brad - will do.
Interesting...never had that problem with my QS.
