I'm hoping to get some help from some more seasoned Topcon users than myself.
I've collected GPS data (RTK) in my FC-2500 using GR-5 receivers. The project in the FC-2500 has the .tsj extension. Topcon Link (I have V8.2) recognizes the file as a "TopSURV Job -Field Software Job) and can load it up, although I can't do very much with the files in Link. Topcon Tools (also V8.2), however, does not recognize this file and when it tries to load it, gives me an error saying the file has zero objects.

Ultimately, my goal is to calculate state plane coordinates with scale factors to get ground coordinates.

Renting equipment can be very frustrating...

Deano,

You can export the data to many different formats from all three of the softwares you mention: TopSurv, Topcon Link and Topcon Tools. The TSJ file is a Topcon project file and only read by Topcon software. I suggestion you stick with TopSurv software, no need for the others.

In TopSurv go to
Export >To File
Select the Pull down for DATA
Choose your output

You can choose ASCII point exports or raw data formats like SDR, RW5, TDS, and XML.

For proper scaling grid to ground you will need more guidance, but can be done in TopSurv also.
Go to Configure >Coordinate System

The original data must be collected in the proper Projection with a GEOID. Then select the Use Grid/Ground.

You will need to select method of grid to ground either by origin point and let the software calc the scale factor or enter a your own scale factor. Then export data using ground coordinates.

I suggest leaving the data in state plane coordinates, then use your cogo software with scale factor for ground inverse and such.

Call me at 315-831-8175 if you have any questions.
