Crew opened tried to open up a new job yesterday morning on this collector.
I have had this collector for many years and have never had any problems.
All of a sudden it wants an authorization code or it goes into Demo mode.
Called Topcon and they say I have to go to my dealer for help. Dealer is no longer a Topcon Rep.
Geoshack in Austin is trying to help but says that Topcon no longer supports Topsurv software, but will try and get a new code anyway.
If a code can not be generated, I will have to purchase a new collector with "Magnet"
loaded or try and find a used collector with working codes.
The technology gods are frowning on me.
The robot will be getting a workout for a few days I guess, much to the dismay of the crew.
I feel for you. I don't understand why they cannot generate the codes for you.
I am a Topcon shop, but do not like the way things seem to be going with the software and hardware changes.
Nickle and diming the customers to death is not good business practice.
I've helped some of my clients recently get codes to for TopSurv on a replacement for a device that was stolen device.
That's Topcon supports canned response now. They want dealers to field the tech calls first, even though support like this still needs to be done directly from Topcon. Topcon needs your dealer to confirm the PO for your software and device. Once they have confirmed PO, they will send new codes.
But you do NOT need new codes, since you are NOT changing devices. You just need help finding the old codes, for that FC2000.
Try looking through your emails and paper work for codes. Or explain to Topcon that your dealer no longer exists, and give them the device ID of your FC2000.
FYI: Magnet software is light years ahead of TopSurv. There was/is an upgrade path from TopSurv to Magnet.
You should get Geoshack to demo Magnet on a PC Tablet.

Magnet is way better than Topsurv.
If you saw my New Data collector post a few days ago it's
a great deal for $1500, Magnet Software and a free FC2600
I've got 2 FC 2200's one GPS (and robotic/ts) and one Robotic/ts for sale.
The GPS has some wear on it and the Robotic one is practicality new.

A call to my dealer at the time Geoshack and I was up and running in
no time. He took care of it and had me codes fast!! If you have no luck I have
a friend at Topcon support. I'm sure he can help you out.
