A little to the South and a long ways East, but still Montana. T16N, R58E P.M.M. N1/4 of Section 36. A rare find, the GLO surveyor was a notorious pencil whipper(by Montana GLO surveyor standards). IF he was there and ran the line, it was 5400' to 5600' to the mile. Random lines were truly random. This one wasn't too bad, only about 60 feet and about 18 feet from the monumented 1/4 corner.
PINCUSHION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll be in the office tomorrow and try to post the notes. I'm pretty sure they raise the mound of stone and "pits impracticable"d all of them. I really want to get this job knocked out SOON.....I'm not a big fan of Jake No-Shoulders....

When I return for the 2nd ties next week, I plan to load a bunch of stone into the back of the rig and raise a mound near the corner in the top photo. Not a lot available at the site. The SC with the curly serifs had some stome available so I built that mound but spaced out taking a photo.... I'll get that on the 2nd Tie.
All of these corners will be well documented with Corner recs. Including SPC, but more importantly, ties to nearby reference marks.
