On Thursday, a wk ago, my wife pulled a tick off of me "Down There".
Turns out, it was a carrier of tick fever. It was a stage 2 tick. Meaning, that a seed tick had bitten something, (deer, rat, mouse, etc) fell off, and molted, then it bit me. On last Friday morning, I had chills, sweats, shakes, and headache.

No go to work. I go to bed. I bounce back and forth between too hot, and sweating like there was water poured in the bed, to shivering, like I was in a freezer. I start on Sunday on amoxicillin. It makes me light sensitive, but by golly I am gonna beat this "Bug" and get back to work. Around about Tuesday, we suspect that it is Tick Fever. The whole target thing. And, swollen lymph nodes. Hurts to walk. So, I get with my doc, tell him my story, and he agrees. Adds Doxicyclane, but, at the drug store it gets changed to Minocyclane. I call my doc, and he says it is ok. I have basically spent all the rest of my time in bed. I did manage to draw 2 simple plats.

I'm light sensitive. I'm weak.

I gave the tick a sermon, and said "When you bite a human, you NEVER really gain, you die" She replied, I had to try. They ALL tell me that!

Anyway, watch out for the little buggers. My new protocol includes ties around the ankles, and additional bug repellent around the waist, and arms.

Ticks are dangerous.

A surveyor I know got it also. Took almost the entire summer for him to get over. Go slow Nate.

Get better Nate-
i guess I'd suggest a total wax job to get rid of the body hair for closer inspections. Let us know how that turns out.

Hope you get better soon. Had a friend get that while working out of State (oilfield). He was in the hospital for a couple of weeks. Glad you caught it early.

Well, the wax job is OUT and that's for sure. But thanks for the thought! I suggest you terminate this line of reasoning, before something bites you! 🙂

I did get my Legacy E Tadrian battery replaced, and it sure works better.

Only one day to try it in the field. Then Susie the tick took me for a ride. Sense of humor? Yes, there is really no point in taking it out on my family and friends.

It's Friday. Nothing like tick fever. Now I can say I have done it all!

I think you're being a bit closed-minded on the wax job- It's not like its unscriptural or something...just don't get it done on the Sabboth 😀

Knew a feller who got the Tick Fever.
Never was quite right afterwards.
Am curious how it'll affect someone
who's not quite right to begin with.

Am kidding of course. Hoping you you have a speedy and full recovery.

Let's wait,

It could be worse.

I know a guy that almost died from Malaria, checked himself out of the hospital the same day, then got bit by a rattlesnake several days later while he was still sick with Malaria. Checked himself out of the hospital the same day after receiving anti-venom.

He recovered fine.

You need to drink more spirits...those ticks are picky about the taste of blood.

Really though, nothing beats stopping every so often to brush off the ticks (wear light colored clothing). Also shower ASAP after being in the field (wife would probably appreciate that).

Never heard of ticks molting...what's that?

Let's wait,

Molt? It's the transition from one form into another.
Here is a pretty good article that lays out the game, pretty well.

Thanks.

Let's wait,

Arachnids such as ticks, spiders and crabs are not insects or are they?

While in the Navy I was told that the most sure way to rid yourself of things that go to dark hairy places is to shave one side, set the other side on fire and stab the little buggers with an ice pick when they run out into the open. Never had the need to try it but did get a second opinion. That one was, go to a popular movie and buy a tub of salty popcorn, while eating it, drop some in your lap, the little critters will eat it and get thirsty, when they get up for a drink, change seats.

Tick Fever Update: FYI

My neighbor came by, and gave me some Himalayan Sole. I tried it, and got 15% energy boost. I took it for about a month, then somebody directed me to this web site:

http://lymephotos.com/ (read everything on this page, as it will sort of explain some things.)

After this, I added Vit C, and added more Himalayan Sole to my drinking water. As it stands, I am getting about 1.5 tsp+ of sodium chloride, every day, and am doing a bit better. Energy levels are up, but I seem to be up for 1-4 wks, then I am down for a couple of days again.

As you can see, I substituted HIMALAYAN SALT, for regular table salt. Indications are that it is easier on your body, because it has not been heated, and purified. Possibly some of the bad side effects of high sodium are reduced, or eliminated, by using a more natural salt. I don't know. I never used high pure sodium chloride.

I think you could substitute REDMOND salt, (Available at your local farm and ranch feed store, for animal use) The Redmond salt, is a mined product, and has a bit of sand, and stuff in it. However, it should not hurt, if you make a SOLE, with it, as mentioned below. As you will see, there is salt in the bottom,
(along with any sand etc).

To make SOLE, you do this:

Get 2 clean quart jars. Fill one with well water, or spring water, (not city water) and cover with plastic or glass lid. (No metal) Place in sunshine, for 24 hrs. This does something to the water, and I don't know what. Take the other quart jar, and fill just under 1/2 way with Himalayan Salt chunks.

After the water jar has sat in sun for 24 hrs, pour it over the salt, and cover, and shake it. Let it sit overnight, and shake a bit more. This makes a STRONG electrolyte Brine, called SOLE. (So-Lay) is how you pronounce it.

Use a plastic spoon, and put 1 tsp of SOLE in a glass of well, or spring water, every morning, and drink it. Don't eat or drink other stuff for 30 mins.

I now use 3-4 TSP of SOLE in a quart of water, and drink it regularly. This sets the salt up properly, so that it has VERY good electrolyte properties. You can adsorb it well.

Using additional Vitamin C has definitely helped. I began "Leaking" out of my feet! I got a real bad case of leaking athletes foot, after beginning the SOLE salt. My feet began healing when I began adding the Vitamin C. I also use baby diaper rash cream on my feet. They are nearly healed up now.

I started my SOLE about 5 wks ago.

I added Vitamin C about a week ago.

I am functioning. I would say I am up at 65% functionality, UP from around
30%, BEFORE I began the SOLE salt stuff.

I do not know why it works. I do not know if it will help everybody. I do not know much about what I am doing. BUT, I am functioning. In ways I NEVER could function since the Tick bite that got me. The one that got me, I got July
4th, 2013.

My doc says "If it helps, well, stay with it".

This is my story.

Nate Dearyan, PLS

Thanks for the update Nate.

I am very glad to hear progress.

65% up from 30% is good.

I am sure that you posting this info will help others on the world wide inter web too.

You are a good man, my man.

Tick Fever Update: FYI

Thanks Brad.

Your kind words mean alot to me.

When you have been very healthy, 6'2" tall, and 215 LBS, able to work 14 hrs a day, for years, and then the bottom falls out, and emotional stability starts to shake, then you get really desperate. The good docs tell me to do that antibiotics, and wait five yrs, and I will probably do better. Well, that is not gonna cut if for my wife and kids. So, when I find something that genuinely helps, well, I share it. And, your kind words mean alot, because the effects of this kind of thing are devastating.

Thanks.

Nate

Good to hear. Do you get out and survey much?

Funny "leaking out your feet". Never heard of that one.

Tick Fever Update: FYI

Leaking out the feet, yeah. Different. Just loads of fluid out of my feet. Wet socks, wet shoes. It's getting better. Not as wet, and not as much. If you read the above link to lymephotos.com, then you can see that it is probably one of the ways my body is dealing with the foreign substances from the tick bite.
