Dan

This cat reminds me of Dallas Cowboys from the other board, among his MANY persona's. Just starting a fight.

Old Surveying (Well, not that old, but old, anyway)

Back in the 70's, I was involved with NGS (NOAA) in a geodetic Survey of the State of Maine (Party G-20). We were trained and became very good at building the "Bilby" tower to use in our survey. Anyone out there of that era. I would like to share experiences with you. Thanks

> Duh? You and Angle,...I mean, Angglel, ......, no, I mean Angel!, need to realize, this is land surveyors communicating with land surveyors. So, the subject HAS to be "land surveying".

😛 To you too, Ed. 😉

There are more of us old vets than you think. I got drafted in 71, thru some stroke of luck I became a 82B. Went to Nam with the Corps of Engineers, ended up staying 9 years. Been surveying ever since. Had a business in Ohio for 20 years. Sort of retired, couldn't stay retired, opened a business in Florida. After 2 heart attacks, 2 strokes, I still go out everyday and let the Florida critters try to get me. I love this profession and will probably die doing it.

Thats good to here wilsurv.

I'm not old yet I guess. Feeling kinda old but at 37 I doubt you have much sympathy for my age. I was just born when you were already well on your way with life. I can only hope to feel as you do about surveying when I get to where you are today.

Thanks for your service

If you are who you say you are then you have earned the right to speak any way you wish, but this is a public forum and some of us have friends that are minorities and/or are minorities themselves, and find such words offensive.
But hey, I'm just a quarterass/quarterwetb@ck so what do I really know?

I'll go with y'all as a guide. I was stationed in Hawaii for 3 years in an Army mapping unit out on Ford Island. I know most of the "back alley places" well. 😉
As far as being an old surveyor, well I've been a cartographic drafter for survey companies since 1970. I suppose that just makes me old though.:-P
