Need to set the bars on a one-lot survey in a neighborhood where everyone hates someone else close by. I'm betting the 84 year-old neighbor to the north and the old witch (age unknown) to the south will both be ready to deck (or worse) our 65 year-old client, who honestly seems to have a poor attitude. There is no way to lay out 50-foot wide lots in that block without upsetting at least half of the landowners. About 44 years ago I took a training course on house wiring. The instructor cautioned us to minimize the amount of extra wire when making connections. He called a switch box/light box/junction box stuffed with too much extra wire a "blivet". He explained that a blivet was what you got when you tried to stuff 10 lb of cr@p in a 5 lb sack. That pretty well describes how most of the property owners in that block have filled up their respective 50-foot wide lots.
Just a suggestion: Call the police, or drive down to the station, tell them what you are, and the names of people, and ask for an officer to stand by, at the point that bars are driven.
Before you drive them, score them with a hacksaw, or file, so that they will break off, and leave 1/2 a bar in the ground.
And, maybe have your assistant filming it.
I have been in these situations. Even it can help, if you have a friend or two, along as witnesses. It seems to diffuse the situation, if you have a team, instead of just your crew.

If its an old subdivision and everyone has "filled up" their 50-foot wide lots why are you setting corners? The lines of occupation must be fairly obvious...
Update---Good news
We snuck in and out without anyone catching us in the act. Maybe they were all still asleep at 8:15 to 9:00 a.m.
In fact, no one should have any heartburn over where the lines were set. Incredibly, they didn't hit anything of consequence. But, that neighborhood likes to be disagreeable. In addition to the bars we added plenty of orange paint to the lawns and a touch on the sidewalk.

Real surveyors use pink.
I always found if I put on my hammer and machete first thing after arriving to the site usually stopped people from harassing me
amen on that. don't need a handgun, or a carry permit. California framing hammer and an Ontario machete speaks volumes. Charles Bronson got nothing on me
A bank blade "brush axe" makes a passable walking stick for these occasions as well....
Looking like an orange vested version of the grim reaper keeps questions polite and short I've found.
