Let me start at the end. After our day I stopped to pick up a most excellent 1800's clock from a friend at Cameron University and then dropped by the local quicky mart to get a few gatoraids to replenish my system after a fine day in the field.

A lady behind me said something and then moved back a bit. I suppose she did not also notice the mud (yes, it's mud) on the legs. I can't imagine (well, yes I can) what she was thinking.

I have learned that the stop, drop and roll, even after a rain to get under a fence is often much safer than trying to climb over.

So the day starts. I arrive early and load up the van. Yes, 20+ SSMH's to shoot and then to dip. The first segment was about a mile and we had made contact with the land owner to open the gate so we could drive. Well, I had the Hiper cooking and the land owner had not showed so I took off. When the land owner showed up then Michael called my cell and said "Where are you at?" I said "At the end of the line, it's all done"..

Game face. Yes, I has it still. But then we came back to do the inverts.

Micheal still has his arm in a cast so I got the duty to lift, remove and replace all the lids today. Some were the newer ones weighing over 100 pounds. He did the pooh rod inverts and I did the notes. We do diagrams in a field book for the ins/outs. Attributed but still the notes have been extremely helpful many times.

Eight weeks or so now back in the hunt and my legs and back are finally coming around. Hiperrific day indeed.

And now just getting ready for a bit of Kendell-Jackson and some blues on the front porch. Rent house and lots of weeds. I think these are weeds but they sure look pretty to me right now.

80 degrees, sun shining and we were out in the field for most of the day. Two days or more estimate and we finished this all up around lunch. I love hitting the road and watching the sun come up as we work.

Hey Deral,

Sounds like “retirement” has suited you well! Glad you are enjoying yourself and that Michael is in good health, cast withstanding.
Still have the bike? A road trip blog is always cool to look at.

Have a great week!
