Walking to the courthouse once I came across somebody's deadman sitting there in the middle of a really high-traffic sidewalk. Saw three different people almost fall over themselves trying to avoid it, became pretty sure that at least one of them (and likely somebody(s) prior) had not successfully done so. For some odd reason I had a pad of post-its on me. Wrote "check your backsight" on one and slapped it on there. Never saw who was using it, so I went on my merry way.
