I see that the GLO has put the new "improved" website online. I'm getting a 403 error when I try to load the GIS map but the other surveyor in my office has no problem loading it. I'm just now looking at the Map Database search and the Land Grant Search. Not sure if this is an improvement. Change for the sake of change or change for the sake of a newly elected commissioner is not necessarily a good thing.
The historical look is gone and it is quite generic, at least there is a Buffalo.....
Quite apart from the ugly look and feel of the new website, like something someone's idiot brother-in-law built while he was looking for a job, it no longer functions as a means to access some key records archived at the GLO.
Instead, we have the latest tweets from some GLO flack and some BS puffery about what the GLO mission is that has nothing to do with the actual GLO mission as a freaking archive.

Kent, so far I have been able to find most of the stuff I am looking for. I have even noticed that some of the maps that previously you could not zoom into are now zoomable which is a definite improvement. I will continue to explore and figure out the nuances of the new system. I'll reserve final judgement until I've had some more time with it.
With regard to the GIS map error, the Keith at the GIS Helpdesk promised to email me when they resolve the problem. I'll post same here.

Well, the way that the sketch files are organized would be perfect for someone who had no interest in actually searching the sketch files. All that shows up in the overview display is just a meaningless snippet of the map, no title, creator, or description, which is a major fail.
FWIW, the GIS MAP is working now. It seems to have been updated slightly too.
