Hello,

I attended a TDS Survey Pro seminar a few weeks ago in Memphis put on by Precision Products out of Nashville. They did a good job, and I like a lot of the new features.

I have Foresight DXM 3.3.1., and use it to export points, perform minor translations, rotations, manage data, etc. My versions of TDS Survey Pro that I use are 4.5.2 and 4.7.1, I believe.

Does someone have a newer version, say version 5.x or newer file that they could send me just to see if this software will open it?

Also, Harold mentioned a Trimble utility viewer for viewing raw data files. Do you know the name of that utility?

my email address is jcsurvey at netzero.net

Thanks

Sorry mine is 2.2. I didn't know they still made ForeSight, I found it on line but it has gotten way expensive, as much as Carlson. I have always liked the program, I thought that it was (is) easy to use and has some neat features, too bad it has gotten so expensive.

I have the DXM version. It does not do drafting.

It is basically a downloading, data management software. It is very useful. I paid something like $350 for my version back in 2007 or 2008.

A fellow beerlegger sent me a sample file, version 5.5.1, and my program would not open it.

Oh well.

Jimmy, Glad you enjoyed the meeting. DXM won't open the .survey file that is the native file for Survey Pro v. 5.x. But you can export a Survey Pro 4.x Job/Raw file out of the DC. DXM should be able to open those files. Though you should probably upgrade DXM to the latest version here: http://legacy.spectraprecision.com/foresight-downloads.aspx

Jimmy, try this link on a previous post on this website.
Trimble calls it a "style sheet converter".

[msg=259254]LINK[/msg]

I googled what I have installed and found it here: LINK2

and here: LINK3
the Spectra Precision JXL Style sheet converter is near the bottom.

Daniel,

Thanks for the info. I am hesitant to upgrade. I have heard there is a bug in the way the new version reads some of the level files. I helped a fellow poster a year or so ago with printing out some survey pro level files, or something. He had a newer version that was not reading them correctly, or something.

My version works perfectly for what I use it for.

Harold,

Thanks for the links. I will take a look at them.

Have a great weekend guys. I will be studying most of the weekend for my Kentucky State Specific exam. I sit for it next Friday.

I think you're avoiding the inevitable, just go ahead and splurge fro Spectra Precision Survey Office. Go through the learning curve now while you can still convert eventually the Mcgyvering will wear out.

Ralph,

I don't do much with it other than download, and export points from my job files. I might translate and rotate points. If I decide to upgrade my Survey Pro, I will probably go that route. Not sure which direction I will go. I am also looking at SurvCE. I will be sticking with Carlson Survey for my CAD software though.

Have a good weekend.

No Problem Jimmy, SPSO also has a post processing engine that you may find useful. Not sure I would use SPSO or TBC fro drafting.

Cheers
