We have a TDS Recon with Bluetooth capability. Recently we acquired an ASUS Transformer Infinity tablet, also with Bluetooth capability.

What I want to do is be able to send data to the field from the office to the tablet and then move that data from the tablet to the data collector. As well as send the information the other way.

The problem I'm having is I can't seem to figure out how to move the data from one device to the other.

I've got them both set to discoverable etc etc. They read that one another are there. I just can't seem to figure out what to do to actually move the file from the tablet to the data collector or vice versa.

I move pics from my phone to the data collector all the time and vice versa. I'm pretty tech savvy or at the very least can intuitively figure these things out usually but I can't figure this one out.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

We have a bluetooth data collector and smartphones. To transfer a file to the data collector I long press the file in the file manager app and pick share. From the data collector to the smart phone I long press the file in the data collector and pick beam. It will search for a infrared port then switch to bluetooth. I think you can disable the infrared connection so it will go straight to bluetooth. I just haven't tried that yet.

I hope this helps!

Well I got it to work ... but now I'm experiencing a different problem ...

Some times when I try to beam a file via bluetooth from the Recon to the tablet I get "SENDING 1/1" for a long time and then FAILED .. and sometimes I just get the message FAILED.

Is there some setting or something that I'm missing?

... I've sent .txt files from 20bytes to 800bytes ... but there's a couple of .txt files I want to send and the tablet flat out won't let me unless I cut them in half and send two 400byte files.

I thought it might be a file size issue, but I can send relatively large jpegs (500KB)with no issues at all.

FRUSTRATED :pinch:

Try checking "discoverable" on the receiving device. Let me know the outcome.

Yeah .. I understand about making the device(s) discoverable.

As I said ... I've sent plenty of files back and forth using bluetooth before.

I just can't figure out why I could send a file one time via bluetooth from the data collector to the tablet and then NOT be able to five minutes later.

Or why I could sent one text file and then immediately after, not be able to send a similar file.

It almost seems to be some sort of intermittent interference problem or something but there is nothing that makes sense as far as that goes. Sending files works in the cab of the truck and then for some inexplicable reason it won't work a minute later.

At first I thought it was a file size issue ... but I can send a 400byte -text file and I can send 500KB -pics. But then suddenly I won't be able to send an 800byte text file.

I'm at a loss.

... and again ... thank you for any help or pointers you can give me.

This is becoming REALLY frustrating.

It works for me in the office 9 times out of 10, but in the field it's hit or miss. Phone to data collector is fine, but data collector to phone is a headache.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

Well that kinda sets everything on an even playing field.

If this is just a problem that someone besides me has on occasion then I can live with that. Suck it up and try again later in the day etc.

I just thought I was doing something wrong or something.

If that's the case then you've actually helped me out more than either of us thought.
