This meeting Thursday, March 24th>
Location To Be Announced Monday, March 21st.
Greetings:
With the greatest threat ever to our profession at our doorstep, one would
hope to see a ...response.
I have spent every waking hour since Monday on
this issue, even traveling to Tallahassee I have heard from several
non-members expressing an interest in attending our next meeting.
This meeting is NOT just for members. Its for all surveyors.
If you do not have the time to fulfill these responsibilities you need to
let someone know. The word need to get out to all surveyors to attend as we
need their help. Sorry if this sounds short (no wait I'm not sorry) but we
need to get going on this.
I will be in attendance to speak and answer
questions. Someone needs to find a larger venue, someone need to get a e-mail
list of people to invite and tell everyone to forward the message on.

Excellent. I'll pass the word along ...
This, BTW, is a cut and paste of an email I received, not my doing ...
10-4
so this email didn't come directly from FSMS? I haven't seen it.
That is good you would assume every chapter would follow suit but I have yet to see an email or receive a call.
Anyone in attendance please keep us updated to what is going on, thanks.
I have it on good authority
That FSMS was aware of this and discussed it at the February meeting.
I want to know why they didn't let us in on the news until a day before the vote??
what the heck is going on??

Dear Marilyn,
I am sure you are very busy right now, but I have some questions I hope you can address.
Can you please provide a timeline synopsis of how and when this bill came into fruition?
Can you please let me know what our attorney, PAC and Board of Professional Surveyors and Mappers have done in relation to this bill?
Can you tell us when your office learned of this and how did they relay that information to the members of FSMS?
Can you send out a synopsis of what is being done right now to combat this issue?
I think that many feel like we are being blindsided by some kind of deal that is a foregone conclusion. How did we not have notice that this was going on? I've looked through all my emails from FSMS, and did not see one that dealt with this issue.
I urge your office to contact the members of FSMS with as much information as you have about this issue. I feel it will be difficult to motivate people to get really involved if they feel like they are not a part of what is going on in Tallahassee.
It was especially poor timing to see a fund raising letter from the FSMS PAC on my desk this morning.
Sincerely,
Andy Johnson
Haven't heard any answers to these questions yet.... still waiting.

"Haven't heard any answers to these questions yet.... still waiting."
When you do, if ever, please post it!
Have a great week!
a public CC to my email to FSMS...
I have been working A LOT lately so I haven't had much time to keep up with the details, but did anyone find out who introduced the Bill with regards to including our profession on it?
a public CC to my email to FSMS...
Well, not really who authored the bill, but here is the link to the gent who is the committee chair.

some info about the origin of the bill...
Representative Irving Slosberg
Also, this bill started at a Proposed Committee Bill, so it was not put together by one author. When it is presented in a committee, it will be presented by the Chair of that committee. Information on who the chairs of the committees are, can also be found on www.myfloridahouse.gov by clicking on "committees".
