Hi All
I am new to Survpc (very new, ie 1 day) having recently moved over from Trimble and Leica.

I have noticed that in the map view you can import a .dxf or .dwg

However it seems that it only brings over lines, not points that have been created as nodes in Autocad. Im assuming I could import points separately by importing as an ascii file but is there a way to have them imported in a .dxf or .dwg?

Also, how do you then stake out a line in Survpc, can you simply click on the line in map view like you can with other software?

thanks

Matt

Matt, from the survce manual (I think survpc is identical):

"Be sure to go to File in the main menu,
Job Settings, Options and turn on "Allow Import .dxf/.dwg/Esri Options". When
these options are turned on, you obtain the following prompting when Importing:
(image of menu/check boxes)
Note that Point Entities, points plotted in Autocad or in Carlson Survey and other
Carlson products, can be imported and also stored as points within SurvCE."

Matt, I should have added; on line staking, in MAP view under the COGO pull down menu in 'Create Points' there are options to add points to 'blank' lines for staking. I do a lot of work importing architects' dwg files into SurvCE for staking and it's very useful to add points to curved shapes as tight curves tend to show on the screen as simplified straight segments that are chords on the curve. Last one I did was a sand pit at a school shaped like an oak leaf.

Thanks Artie

That makes sense. I noticed the lines came across without point numbers and that you could choose end points etc but points numbers for all works better for me. I'll have a play with that. On a different topic, i notice that you can set up prisms with different heights. Is it possible to set up each prism with a different prism constant?

Regards
Matt
