The question is: Did he move her to the side and get the shot on the critical monument beneath the remains before or after contacting authorities?:-$

Her death is in no way humorous. But, the mental workings of a new-hire rodman on a mission could be suspect if no one is watching.

According to the CNN news story, the woman's remains were found on US Navy survivor training grounds, a pretty far distance away from the Appalachian Trail. Now that the Maine Warden Service can get her remains back to her family, they can further investigate the mystery of why, how and what she was doing on the US Navy grounds. It's very easy to get lost in the Maine woods, RIP

My sister in laws husband was a S.E.R.E. instructor there. There is no fence that separates the Appalachain trail fron US Navy property in that area

I was the I-Man on one of the two crews that did the survey work for the Navy back in '83, prior to the Navy's purchase of the land from a paper company they'd been leasing it from for years. 10,000 acres. We worked ten days on and four days off, 12 hour days was the norm. Really rugged, beautiful land, really hard work. Best job I ever worked on! Back then, the AT cut through part of the survivor training grounds, but the trail was re-routed after the purchase. I wonder if she somehow found the remains of the original trail and got headed in the wrong direction?

Closure for the family, may she RIP.

A few years back we did an aerial mapping project for the Navy of the SERE property, pretty remote area, I could easily see how somebody could disappear there for years.

The search was featured on "Northwoods Law" a year or so ago. The show is about the Maine Warden Service.
