We've been doing some surveying in the center of Ghent last weeks.
One of our offices is located in Ghent so we're there frequently, but this time it was really in the old center.
A lot of students & tourists and a lot of traffic.

The City wants to make some proposals for the renovations of some streets where the tram, light railway rides.
You can take the 'tram' to every part of the city, even to Moscow as you can see ...

We also met a colleague surveyor on the same market square, doesn't happen that often.

His job was to survey one of the facades of the older buildings.
By the end of the week we had rendez-vous with the other survey-teams at our main office at Antwerp to pick up our new equipment.

A half day of training at the office and in the afternoon field training at the 'rivierenhof' park to get used to the S6 total station and R6 gps, we're switching from a 5600 total station and 5800 Gps, we got new dc's but they run the same software as the old ones so the transition should go smoothly.

We used the new gear for 1 day in the field now, currently we have our summer holiday for 4 weeks.
We're enjoying the Belgian coast in 'Nieuwpoort'

a lot of walking, reading some books & tasting some Belgian beers.
Toast!

and have a nice holiday!
Christof.
Thank you Christ.
Do you have 'known' traverse stations that you use ?
Are the building corners coordinated or how do you determine where the property
boundaries are?
Cheers
Derek
I don't think they distribute Hoegaarden Rosée outside of Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg, so I'll have to stick with my favorite Belgian.

Nice pictures, thanks for sharing.
For James
My favorite Belgian is Corsendonk. Available in Fort Worth in tasting sized bottles as well as a Jeroboam (4/5 gallon). One of these days, I'm going to buy the Jeroboam bottle.
Derek,
no known traverse stations available to us at the moment, the contract implied RTK using the FlePOS system, our flemisch VRS system.
In most city centers the building line is also the property boundarie, we'll work on this after our holiday.
James,
you're probably right, I have to admit I've never tried La chouffe, but I do like some of the amber colored beers, it's a heavy one 8%, I'll try it later.
Andy, enjoy your Corsendonk!
Chr.
Cool pics and story!. Thanks for posting.
Christof
As always, I enjoyed your pictures and the glimpse it provides to a different culture. You mentioned getting new DC along with your new equipment. Did you get the TSC2?
We have a town called "Newport" about 2 hrs North of here. I hope you are enjoying your vacation. I'll be leaving for a 10 day vacation the end of next week.

Christof, your photos are absolutely beautiful!! I enjoy seeing how you guys "live" over there, the city landscape, architecture, the water, people, etc... please by all means feel free to share more!
Thank you for sharing these. 🙂
Bedankt voor het delen!

Google, actually. 😛
I just wanted to say thank you to him in his native language. Turns out there's three different languages besides English over there so I had to do all three and be fair. So neener. 😛
:p
(You'd win this battle of wit cause I am dead tired and outta here.)
Thank you for your reply
Cheers

John,
we're indeed using the TSC2 now, with the basic Trimble Access software.
Angel,
I live in the Flemish part of the country, so I speak dutch (same as the Netherlands) and I also speak French, my German is very poorly.
I do also enjoy the picture posts from your side of the world, we don't have much open spaces or wildlife here.

Well, stick with me, Christof. I have plenty of pics to share. If you have facebook you can add me. I have a bunch on there from different parts of the good ol' USA. Hawaii was particularly my favorite.
I have a best friend from Holland! She lives here but was born and raised there as a little girl. I always tell her to cuss in Dutch for me. 😉
Her and I have been talking about going back to Holland/Netherlands/Amsterdam/etc...sometime in the future. If we ever make it we'll have to meet you of course.
