Unfortunately, I missed this one and it sold for $75.00. I have noticed that just one person contacting ebay doesn't seem to prompt them to cancel the auctions, so we need to have a group of us who are willing to periodically search, alert others, and report it as malicious activity inviting theft. This is a serious issue when others see used markers selling for this kind of money. As before, I have no problem with new and unused markers being sold. In most cases these markers probably were removed during construction, but it reflects poorly on us surveyors as a whole who are not willing to protect a vital and historical aspect of our profession.
See if you are able to hook up with Ric Moore, Ca. If Ebay gets a letter from the State of California perhaps that well get their attention. Ric has been a poster here in the past.
I check for these from time to time. What keywords do you use to search?
