That is a neat invention, that I was unaware of.

Steve's father was a pilot also who helped develop and implement a basket drop. A basket was let out the window or door of the small airplane in flight, attached to a long cord, which was lowered to the ground as Nate Saint did a tight circle with one wing down over a clearing. They were able to exchange gifts with the Indians and set up a face to face meeting.

I have never meet Steve, but several pilots live here locally, who were missionary pilots after the tragedy. In fact I have surveyed for Rogers lot, and hope to survey for Don this weekend.
