You're in fractional section 6. NW part of the section is invaded, and the north and west 1/4 corners are not fixed. No subdivision lines have ever been run or established in the section. Should theoretical section centerlines be on a weighted mean bearing between the opposing section and range/township lines, or should they simply be parallel with the E and S section lines?
I've heard conflicting answers to this question so I'm curious what you think
Probably need to see the plat for that one.
I have no real authoritative opinion aside from which of the two options would be most equitable in light of the aliquot nature of the fractional section. If one solution is clearly more equitable than another, therein might lie the answer. I've struggled myself in how to handle those protracted remainder government lots on the west tier of the township and that's the approach I've taken in the past. If there's a hard fast rule, I'm just as certain there's also an exception to it.
Just because I'm paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get me.
