How come none of you Google Earth Gurus have posted on the strange photos in China??? The ones I saw were just from regular news and you couldn't tell much from them. Very interesting, the shapes and lines and scale. The terrain looks very rough, but I have to admit compared to our patchwork quilt survey they make sense!!! Take a look and make a guess, mine is future alien subdivision!!!!
You may need to elaborate on which specific photos you are referring to. Links? Coordinates?
Jim, street view doesn't work. Why can't those google people get their act together?
I think they are just messing with us. In response, we shoul create a BUNCH of 20 foot long arrows on the ground. ALL pointing at China.;-)
That pattern covers an enormous area, must of taken a lot of work to clear and mark it out.
I'm thinking a 500' hand shooting the bird.
I am finding it very strange that only a fellow from NZ and S Africa answered my question..the other folks were just the normal answer to a real question. What are these sat images of, that terrain is not just some back yard. Thanks for your nice responses from not USA, have to look there for answers now-a-days!!!
Maybe some sort of strip mining in difficult terrain, the pattern could be a result of them adjusting to the terrain.
Just venturing a guess to make Mr. Old feel better.
I don't want to feel better BL, I was more hoping to have some of our image folks come up with a guess...even a wild ass guess from TDD. I was being sincere, and do not have access to Google Earth images like I know some folks on here do. By the way, have many of you seen posts very often from NZ and S Africa, and an old fart like me...LOOK into it!!!
Zoom in on some of those light lines. The terrain through them does not change from that adjacent to them. The lines are also very uniform in width, showing no minor deviations one might expect along the edges if they were indicative of vegetatione clearing or earthwork.
I think that someone at Google Maps is just messing with people.
>do not have access to Google Earth images like I know some folks
Why not? It is a free download to install, runs on Win XP or newer, and although it is a little slow to start showing images on dial-up, it does an excellent job of preloading what you might need to zoom or pan around the initial spot so those actions aren't so slow.
