Does anyone use these? I was thinking of ordering a few. It doesn't look like they have the plastic insert to prevent the cap from contacting the rebar. I was just wondering how that would work.
It's dissimilar metals that cause the problem. With a stainless steel cap on a piece of rebar I wouldn't think there would be much of an issue since the major component of each is iron.
Most stainless steel isn't magnetic - does a typical "pipe finder" sound off on it?

I'd be putting these caps on a 5/8" rebar. Surely the cap won't cause a problem with the magnetic locator.
What caps are you looking at, these from Bathey? Those look pretty nice, but I wonder about the fastening? Is it setscrews? (after zooming in, I guess those aren't setscrews, if it fits tight I would be OK with these).
Those laser etched ones look pretty sharp, only if they had a plastic insert.

Either you have to leave the mon up, or hope the cap stays tight as you drive it flush. Those laser etched ones look pretty sharp, only if they had a plastic insert.

Those are the one.
It looks like they have a small indention on each side that "grabs" the rebar. I'm not sure how well that works though.
Just remember, stainless steel will rust if you start hitting it with an iron or steel hammer.
