Several notes from a man who found one of my recorded surveys and wanted to know what he had to do to get the City or County to amend/rectify/correct (his words) the recorded lot lines I had shown so they matched the GIS. I broke it to him gently and explained the GIS lines were never to be relied upon, in this case off about 40 feet and curved to match the rambling pavement instead of the straight platted lines.

He had apparently spent a lot of time doing his "research" on line but missed the key point, as in never trust the accuracy of GIS.

And I thought only contractors used GIS lines. Sometimes only to find out they’re not  accurate after they’ve already cleared across a neighboring line.
