I had a scheduled meeting with a client this morning at 8:30 about a 2 hour drive away.
Yesterday afternoon the meeting got canceled just as I was getting ready to make a motel reservation and drive there after work because road conditions were getting iffy and I didn't want to deal with it at 5:00 AM this morning.
The people who canceled called me and apologized for the inconvenience. They aren’t having the same weather and didn’t understand why I was happy not to show up. I just looked at one of the highway cameras.

Sure glad I didn’t have to face that drive both directions.
MightyMoe,
I don't usually mind those drives, if it wasn't for the recent Russian immigrant graduate from truck driving school with a 18 wheeler passing you @ 75 mph!! :-O
Pablo B-)
So true; when you have the road to yourself and time then it's not bad. You can go 35-45mph and it can be a nice drive.
But the trucks and even worse the Suburbans-the Suburban drivers think the laws of physics don't apply to them. 😉
Many Suburbans hold the slick road real well...and get you down the road further! Knowing the road and conditions, some drivers are fun to predict the milepost marker you'll be passing them by..;-)

I keep a nice tow-strap in the tool box. That way I can pull the Suburban out of the snow bank a few miles down the road after they go by me at 75mph on the ice. Breaks up the drive.;-)
Weather like that is why I returned from the frozen tundra and have no intentions of going back. Those of you who enjoy the challenge are welcome to it.
You don't know what you're missing. 14 degrees, wind about 10-15, nice light snow falling sometimes horizontal, slick roads to help with gas mileage, 10" of wet snow to protect the ground where you need to set a monument, 2' feet of frost headed to 6', what could better!:-D
I wish there was snow, it helps keep the soil from freezing solid!
Piney Creek. Know the place well. Sure glad I don't have to put up with those conditions any more. Spent lots of days in conditions like that trying to get a reading with the EDM at 200' setting the offsets for a well location.
The darn GPS units don't seem to care about the snow or cold. As long as you don't let the snow pile up on the antenna.;-)
Snow? What's that?B-)
Today: Clear blue skies and 47 degrees in Northeast Mississippi!
