All of a sudden my receiver is not receiving the radio link from the base unit. The base unit appears to be transmitting correctly (right light flashing green) but the receiving unit does not receive. The receiving unit light comes on solid then flashes during the synch period and the base setup, but when I synch the unit to the data collector, the se3cond I hit the button to acknowledge the receiving unit is correct, the radio light goes out and stays out.
If I use the Sokkia GSR config tool it does indicate that that the radio is present.
I'm going to try reversing roles and see what that does...
Any other ideas? Are there internal batteries that I need to be mad aware of?

Make sure that all of your radio settings for the base and the rover are the same. Sounds like something in that department.

I had something similar a few months back and the solution was to make sure for all configurations that the base was sending RTK corrections in RTCMv3 format and the rover was set to receive these. RTCA doesn't work anymore, at least for the GSR2700 receiver/firmware. Not sure if you can check this with the config tool but you can with Sokkia Planning on a pc.
thanks ark and artie
I have verified that the units are on the sane radio frequency. 464.725
and that both are collecting in RTCMV3 RTK
And I am still stymied...
Does anyone know the sokkia support number now that they have become Topcon? I have misplaced my previous support number since it's ben so since I have needed it..

Which SurvCE version are you running? You could try soft reset/hard reset/SurvCE reinstall in turn. Or, a reinstall of the receiver firmware? You could trawl the SurvCE web pages, there's a not very active forum, but it does have a lot of archived pages which might have something useful.
Survce 2.02 2007, you're thinking it could be a software issue with Carlson?
It's odd that the radio power light stays on right up until I click the "Connect with instrument"
Just a guess again Don, but have you checked in SurvCE the settings under the comms and RTK tabs for the GPS rover? Something like an item that conflicts with the receiver configuration. Unlikely I know but these settings could reset to 'default'

I've just read you're post properly! On the last point you could try and contact Ed Castelan of Sokkia, N America, It's a while since, but he was very helpful to me by email. He was based in Olathe, Kansas.
