This old program has a level routine program that works great for just running levels. With the newer computers and operating systems, the use of serial ports has been eliminated. Unfortunately, this old data collector (actually a HP 48) uses the serial port to upload and download. I still have an older computer with the serial port and it runs on Windows XP. However, I cannot get them to communicate.
Any suggestions?
Have you tried one of these?

I got my hp48 connected through a dos emulator. DosBox and the usb/serial connector rfc listed.
You need SMI TFR.7 for the XP
I obtained a copy from Eagle Point in 2005
It does not contain the level routine
For $100± a refitted optiplex with serial and parallel ports can be found that are excellent for transferring data on these older data collectors.
A null modem cable must be used and are available for a few dollars on Ebay or Amazon
