I have to vent.....I really dislike dealing with site contractors....
That is all.....
We call them "crisis hoes" around here...they usually don't get the time of day from me. If you ignore them, they will go away and you will live longer.

May have to borrow that.
A good contractor on a good site can be very fulfilling.
A bad contractor makes any site difficult. I find that setting proper boundaries at the beginning goes a long way to establishing my ability to remain sane when a bad contractor starts creating insanity all around him.

Ditto.
I do a lot of work for builders and they are fine. MOST are good.
But the bigger site contractors andrew horrendous.

The only way to avoid them is to avoid them. Pack your bags and walk ASAP.
I worked for a general contractor for a good number of years. A good superintendent is a rare item. There are lot of ill-tempered wannabes out there that can make you life miserable.
One good superintendent I remember was a fella named Bob Woods. He was in the CeeBees in WWII and just stayed with it. I asked him once what the secret was to being a good super. I'll never forget his reply, "You have to be able to walk up to a man and deck him in the face with your fist. And immediately start dusting him off and helping him stand back up. By the time he's on his feet you should have him apologizing for standing in front of your fist."
