Came home to find a voice mail on the land line (Yes, Virginia, there really are land lines.) asking me to call back at a number on the other half of the State.?ÿ Decided to do a search on that number and discovered it was a real estate lady from two and half hours away.?ÿ That made no sense, but, I gave it a shot anyway.
The first thing she said was that she had received my contact info from another real estate person.?ÿ OK, that happens quite a bit.?ÿ Then she asks (I kid you not!) how far I was backed up on doing appraisals.?ÿ She has found a buyer for a property that has my same zip code.?ÿ So, I had to tell her that I do land surveys, not appraisals.?ÿ Next, I provide her with two numbers to call for APPRAISERS who work this area.?ÿ She was flabbergasted that she was getting the right information but from the wrong guy.?ÿ I added that both numbers were very experienced and that one had been working today on an appraisal about five miles from where she indicated she needed one.
Then I got nosey.?ÿ Exactly where is this property??ÿ She gave me the address and I thought for about 10 seconds before saying, "Oh, that's the Murphy place."?ÿ She was surprised that I could know that so quickly.?ÿ Then I told her that I own the land directly across the road intersection to the southwest.?ÿ It was the truth, but, I'm not sure she really believed me.?ÿ Next I told her that property was surveyed last Summer by another firm, but that if she couldn't get a copy from the seller, I could get her one.
She was thrilled.?ÿ I'm sure I'll hear from her again, the next time she needs an appraiser.
She found a gold mine.?ÿ You'll never get rid of her now.?ÿ I bet by Christmas you'll have her number memorized.?ÿ 😉
