Last Thursday I hit the power button on the Data Collector (Carlson Surveyor2). Nothing.
I took off the keyboard cover, keyboard and circuit board. It all looked clean so I put it back.
Nothing.
I ordered a new one, asked APE to ship it FedEx Express.
It tracked Georgia, Memphis, Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, Puerto Rico.
WTF, back to Puerto Rico?
FedEx now says it's destination code somehow got changed to St. Johns, Antigua, so that's where it's going now.
Last time this happened I had a Total Station go from Miami to St. John Venezuela, which doesn't exist, back to Miami, to Venezuela again. That took almost 3 weeks. It cleared customs 4 times.
Now APE is sending me another one, by USPS this time. We'll see which one gets here first.
My customers, my employee and my bottom line don't like this much.

We have the Surveyor2 and had the same thing happen, turned on said low battery then turned off, but the batteries were charged. Took plugging it back in to the charger, and doing a reset for it to boot up, and then it showed full charged. This was also on a job site 2 hours from the office, I am glad I had a car charger for it in the truck.

No charger doesn't help. Holding power down for a reset does nothing. This is the 4th failure in 20 years. I shouldn't complain, but I do anyway.

@larry-best I feel your pain. I once shipped four Pelican cases of gear from Oregon to a job site in Portland, ME. It made it to Seattle, then for some reason someone thought it should go to Portland,OR instead of Portland, ME, no clue why or how you confuse PWM and PDX, the air bill clearly had the correct code.

Yeah, I've heard these things won't fully reset unless plugged into a wall outlet.

After finally getting the new one, I looked on the Carlson site for info on repairs to the old unit. I found advice to take the battery out, plug into a charger without the battery and reboot. THAT WORKED. Carlson tech support hadn't told me that when I called earlier. So now I have a spare. In spite of Carlson's superior tech support, a real manual for the hardware, printed or online would be a help.
