We have been using Leica Roadrunner Tunnel to lay-out the overhead roof of an underground cavern on a NYC subway project and it works great. We would now like to use it to lay-out a vertical shaft on the same project. We think the approach should be (Using Leica Geo-office):

1. Set-up a horizontal alignment 0.01 feet in length.
2. Set-up a vertical profile that matches the vertical shaft length.
3. Set-up a cross section (profile in Leica parlance) that matches the plan shaft cross section.

Can anyone offer any advice. Are we on the right track? Is there a better way?

Thanks, Barry

I think there may be a way to just straight up rotate an alignment to vertical. My boss would know but I am not at work and so do not have him to ask nor gun/data to play with.

So many little features in RR it is hard to remember sometimes.

Thanks for your suggestion. We tried the rotation method in GeoOffice and were not successful. We contacted Leica support and were told that it was not possible to set up a vertical shaft in Roadrunner tunnel. We are now going to use basic stake to arc and stake to line routines to get the job done.
