The article omits the very important difference between astronomical latitude, which was the only practical kind when many of those lines were laid out, and GPS latitude (of whatever datum/epoch), and that accounts for some of the variations they quote for the east-west lines.?ÿ Gravity variations cause that difference and deflection of the vertical or Laplace correction on north-south lines.
