Anyone have one of these? What do you think of them?
I've used them before. They work pretty well and they are super portable especially in the woods, but the slide mechanism makes them rather vulnerable to failure. Two out of three of ours had to go back within the first three years for repair.

I think you're confusing the Maggie with the GA-92XT series. The Maggie isn't retractable, it's basically a GA-52CX with a pistol grip and LCD display.
Ahh. My bad.
I have the GA-92XT. It has been in for repairs. It broke a ribbon wire. It is not a very rugged product. It came back, with the sticker messed up, at the control screen. I don't know about the Maggie. If it were me, Id shake out the Chris Nick Hound dog too.
I have the new Maggie. I bought it a few months ago to have a spare metal detector and so that I could send my 52 off for repairs.
It is good at what it does. I would say that it is too sensitive. You can't turn down the sensitivity enough to pinpoint something in asphalt. Other than the sensitivity issue, it is great. Portable, lightweight yet sturdy.
A little highjack of your thread;
Any body have one of these? http://cosprings.craigslist.org/for/5442362845.html
Seems like a good deal to me and might help in those noisy areas where you can't hear the locator.
If you need the headset option I see that one can be purchased at an additional cost which will work with the Maggie
Any headset with the proper size jack will work......
