I recently upgraded our robots (three S6's and one VX) to the latest version of firmware. It seems like a really good upgrade because the robot no longer disconnects the radio link when you end a survey.
There has been one major problem, though. All of the robots, at one time or another give an Internal Instrument Error message (via the data collector), and sometimes it is a Radio Module Missing or sometimes Satcom Missing all via the little display on the robot. The robots work flawlessly almost all the time, but when this creeps up it usually lasts for about a half an hour.
My initial hunch is that they changed a part supplier and the new firmware works fine with new part but not the legacy versions. There is, however, no note saying that the upgrade is only for certain models (I don't think they even have different versions, except for the High Accuracy ones).
Has anyone else experienced this?
Hi,
no errors so far with the S6's,
but it takes 3 steps now to stop the survey (Trimble Access)
1. end survey
2. disconnect (taping totalstation icon)
3. swith off totalstation with trigger key
was only one step with the older 5600.
chr.
I have also upgraded to the latest firmware and found this error once or twice in the last 2 months. I also sometimes get no distance measured when switching over to DR mode ( tracking) , no matter our close or far you point to..the only way to fix it is too swop back to prism mode and back again to Dr mode.
