I wonder if there is an existing technology that allows RTK correction via GSM/GPRS. Radio link fails a lot in many situations where I think the GSM/GPRS can handle well. As we all know, GSM/GPRS provides much greater coverage.

Yes! I know you run Leica GNSS gear, I have had this working with both Leica 500's and 1200's with the Leica supllied modems in the GFU housings, you need two of course and two data plans, pretty straight forward and works good in areas where cell coverage is better than radio coverage.

I am actually referring not to a fixed base reference system but to a mobile GSM/GPRS modem. What I am wishing for is like two GSM/GPRS modules for each receiver.

Exactly, that is what I have, can use the two modems together as a base/rover or use them both as rovers with nwtwork RTK, been available on the Leica's for 10 years with the right modems.
