The only time I did a "woods" job - in steep mountainous terrain - with a robot, I strapped everything except the prism pole to a cargo backpack and trudged up the hill. It was a tough day, but I got the work done. When I got home I reassembled the pack and weighed it; it was a bit over 50 lbs.
I'm not a big guy, and I've decided that I won't be doing that again.
On the other hand, last week I had to finish a job in a flat ag area where the recent rain had rendered the farm roads undrivable. The mud wasn't deep, just greasy enough to prevent a truck from getting any traction. So I loaded everything into my folding aluminum cart and wheeled it the 1800 feet to the control point I needed to occupy. Pushing the cart on a slightly muddy farm road was a little harder than pushing it on pavement, but it wasn't bad. The one-man approach worked well that time.
Dude, $14k for the whole setup? Granted this is the older model, but wow!

that's a winner.
"This is the survey robot you are looking for"

I recently purchased the Carlson CR2 robot with the Mesa2 data collector (same as the Carlson TC2) running Carlson SurveyPC and couldn't be happier. I think for the money, quality, speed and efficiency the Carlson equipment and software is really hard to beat.
I use Leica, but haven't other brands.
It's hard to believe that there's anything like this thing though:

It tracks great. Customers love it too.
