Me: Carl speaking

Caller: Yes, I'm getting ready to mark off 3 acres in (small community) in (adjoining) County for a new plot and need a survey. I'm a bit of cheapskate, so do you have any idea what this might cost?

Me: Well, there's lots of variables, but off the top of my head it would cost a minimum of XXX dollars.

Caller: WOW!! That's like 3 times what I was thinking.

Me: well, tell me mo.... (he hung up)

I wish him luck. I think he wants this done for about $300, I don't think I know ANYBODY that will lowball that far... At least I hope I don't.

Carl

You are better off without that type of client. He did you favor by hanging up on you. There are a few words like and phrases like "dispute", "lawyer", "cheap", "it's real easy, all I need is ..." and/or "my neighbor's an idiot ..." that cause me to want to get off the phone ASAP.
