Returned a call from a fellow who had called some time back to discuss two surveys he needed done.
Told him both jobs would run between $2000 and $3000, each. We kept talking for several minutes before he confessed he had used a different firm for a survey a couple of years ago. He thought that job had cost far too much so was searching for someone "cheaper".
Failed that test.
He farms several thousand acres. So, I asked him if the price of fertilizer was reasonable. He ranted about how outrageous that is today. That's when I told him I had put over $5000 of fertilizer on about 90 acres of oats planted last week. Then I reminded him of why land surveying seemed too expensive. It's because we silly surveyors have to be able to pay our bills, just like he does. He agreed to think about for a couple of days and let me know if he wants one or both surveys done.
nicely stated
