I have always liked technology that would reduce or remove the chance of human error in data acquisition. The integrated DC is a great example. I think it would be a great help in reducing errors (blunders) if a total station could measure the HI and the prism pole the rod height. I don't think it would be that difficult for a clever manufacturer to build this using the laser plumb in the instrument and a sensor in the prism pole that transmitted to the DC when a shot was taken.
