Does any know of any states that will grant licensure by reciprocity? More specifically -- Connecticut or other east coast states.
Most states recognize the NCEES exams, but will probably require a state specific examination.
This has been my experience with the three states that I am licensed in, and the 4th state that I am in the process of applying for.
What State Are You Currently Licensed In?
How did you become licensed?
What state do you wish to be licensed in?
Have you read that state's requirements?

MA has a practice called comity. I have not read about it in years, so I really don't recall the requirements.
Connecticut does not have a degree requirement. Surveyors are under the Department of consumer protection. So if you go to the the website, I'm sure you can find the info you are looking for.

Comity Is The Word
States feel tht reciprocity implies since I have a license you must give me a license.
Comity is we will grant a license if the requirements for the license you have are in conformity with our requirenments plus any additional requirements nsuch as a state specific exam.
It may be just words to you but legally it means something to the states.

I resemble that comment. Back in 77 when I received NJ I could have applied for reciprocity from PA. Now in hind sight if I applied to PA it would be for Comity and I would have to take the 2 hour State Specific.
I could be wrong, but I'm guessing that no state will just grant a license without an exam.
Some states it's even tough to just get approved to take their exam, even if you're already licensed in multiple states.
Well, I be a wee bit West....
AK does by "Comity" both in Surveying and Engineering (Engineers need a class in Arctic Engineering 1st) but then, you were looking a bit East of me!!

I am licensed in NC, WV, and KY. My dad is/was licensed in most of the mid-Atlantic states and he said a lot them honored other states licenses. I am interested in Connecticut, but I read below that they do not offer a license by reciprocity. One day I will sit for the PA exam... once I am comfortable enough to compute the area of the grass for a baseball field 😉
I do know this from personal experience. I am currently licensed in WV and PA. In PA, I had to take the state portion to get my license by comity or reciprocity or whatever the word is. I received both my first (and second) license by experience. Ohio now has an education requirement. If I were to get a license in Ohio, I would need to take the 15 credit hours required for Ohio surveyors, regardless of how many other states I am licensed in, in order to sit for the Ohio exam. I suspect a few other states now handle their education requirement this way.
