Monuments should be openly visible, touchable. They should not be hid.
There are times to bury or protect a monument such as in a cultivated field, but that's the exception.
A monument is called a monument for a reason. Monuments are not defined as a hidden object, it loses its meaning as such.
They didn't bury the Washington Monument or the Lincoln Monument, they are made as open and visible and accessible as possible.
If they're hidden they should be called something else.
I don't ever survey for other surveyors, I survey for my clients. If what I do helps out the next surveyor great, but that's never the focus, the focus is what's best for the client and hiding monuments so they will never find them again without another trip to the field by a surveyor isn't it.?ÿ
