> On the plat for the three lots I am showing the origional lot lines using a light dash line and in the title block I put everyone on notice lots 23,24,25 and 26 are now lots ?? ?? ?? so anyone will be able to follow what is going on.
>
As soon as the amended plat is filed for record, the former lot boundaries cease to exist. Since there is no longer a boundary where the former monuments are located, they are no longer "monuments." They no longer mark the boundary. Your plat should reference where they were located (as they were depended upon to locate the new monuments). Once finalized, the meaningless survey markers can be removed.

If you were in Kentucky, I would say absolutely not:

201 KAR 18:150 Section 9 Item 8
"...All existing record monuments discovered during the performance of the survey shall be preserved and shall not be altered or destroyed."

Not knowing the standards in your state, my personal opinion is no do not remove them. They may be useful in the future for recreating the lines you are now creating or other areas of the subdivision - as they are the original monuments for the original development.

And they certainly are still monuments. They do not mark the corner of the new boundaries, but they have a defined relationship to those corners and will remain monuments as long as they are left in place.

Your original pins, so I'd pull them and then use them again in the new corners, thus saving yourself some $$$.......
