that'd/funny. I'm sure you made the best determination for your situation. But it reminds me of a survey I did.

I was retracing a road right-of-way and found a BLM monument in the roadway. They set (in a dependent resurvey) a new monument in 2001. I pulled the BLM notes and found that they used the east-west proportional distance for the e-w position, but the center of the road for the nort-south position. The problem was, that the center line of the road was originally 15 feet north of the section line.

Gotta-look at all the data I guess.
