I am having some difficulty with my S6 on the verticals. Intermittently I am getting 10-20mm error on the verticals. Sometimes it is fine and other times it is not. Sometimes when it changes face it is way off on the vertical but the majority of the time it is fine. I have run it through all the collimation/adjustment routines and it is has been calibrated but is still happening.

These are all done with Autolock off and target on tribrach (not 360). Any insight?

Turn autolock on.?ÿ I almost never turn autolock off.?ÿ Sometimes you have to make sure it's on the correct target or not on someone's vest.

I have had the issue with Autolock on as well unfortunately and it's always on the correct target.

The thing is it was working perfectly fine until I sent it in for a yearly calibration. When I got it back the problem was there. I have sent it back to the shop but it has come back again the same.

Try setting a target with your reflectorless. Then change set up position and hit that same target again. Vertical issues seem to come from target height mis-measurement. Doing a reflectorless shot takes that out of it as target height will be 0.?ÿ

Good luck

Totalsurv, we have experienced the same symptoms, almost exactly as you describe them. I've pulled my hair out trying to identify the cause with no luck so far. It is intermittent, appears to be random, and as of yet we have no solution for prevention. It has been to the shop, collimations have been done a number of times, HIs and HTs verified. Differing prisms and targets utilized. We can't make the error happen, nor can we prevent it from happening, all we have been able to do is detect it. This makes for a less efficient use of the equipment when you don't have a vertical error budget that exceeds these random errors the S6 is producing.

The thing is this never happened before I sent it in for calibration so I suspect something has gone wrong in the shop as it was working perfectly right up till the 'technicians' got their hands on it.

Lurker can I ask what data collector you are using and did you try a different data collector to see if there is any difference? It seems if you do a change face from the controller the vertical is off but if you do it from the S6 itself it is fine.

Totalsurv, It is a TSC3 with trimble access software. When I have the opportunity I will experiment with different collectors and with the S6 itself. Perhaps this will allow us to narrow down the origin of the discrepancy. Thanks for the idea.

Go thru the menus and make sure all your settings are right for your setups and offsets and that your HIs are correct for your rods and other prism holders.
