I have a problem and I can't find the answer. Hopefully one of you can help. I bought the "best" level Topcon sells a DL-502. We could never get it to download to any Topcon software we had in any intelligible way. My dealer tells me its really a Sokkia and that to work with our TDS data collector, we will have to buy a module. We do that and it works fine in the data collector. You can follow along the initial benchmark, see the foresights and backsights, etc etc. Only problem is that I can't get that to print out in a typical level format for inclusion in survey reports. My dealer is no help at all. He tells me that there might be a module that would go with TDS Foresight that would work. He said it "should" go into Topcon Tools but we can't get it to make any sense. One of my surveyors has an old Foresight 2.0 cogo program but when you put the raw file in there, it doesn't appear to have any routine to put out the level portion in a traditional format. I need help. I am so frustrated with Topcon and my dealer...

Alan,

I have the TDS Foresight DXM program. If you email the file to me, I can try to open it and see if it will print out a report.

I won't be able to look at it until sometime this weekend.

email is :jcsurvey at netzero.net

Jimmy, thanks I need a permanent fix as we have dozens of level runs to work on. I would like to send you a file to see if your module works. One of my guys has the Foresight cogo. I need to know if what you have works and if it does, can I just buy a module for our existing Foresight program.

What office software do you use? Carlson has an editor for level files but I don't know if you can import digital files or if it's for hand entry. I have never used it. Do you have something like Topcon Tools? I think TGO could import files from it's digital levels and I think Leica Geo Office does the same so maybe Topcon Tools will. Since the file was stored in TDS, you may be able to bring it into TGO.

You could email it to me and I could try loading it into some of the programs I have and let you know what I find. robert dot cross at kbr dot com

I can't help you out, but I know who should........:-S

No offense, but it's not like we're talking a $600 automatic level here.

No offense taken. Nothing you could say would aggravate me more than when I think about how much I spent on that %$#$ level that has NO accompanying software.

No - his problem is his dealer. Time to find a better one. I shop as local as I can, but when I can't get what I need, or I can't get the service I need, I go where I need to.

there's an issue with the latest version of foresite dxm and level reports. I'm not sure which version it is, but you need to
l downgrade to a previous version. I use that same level for a monitioring project weekly and finally got an answer from tds about the level report issue. I need to check in the office on Monday to let you know what version that works.
the newest version doesn't output the reports in the correct format, sideshots and tps are all out of order.

Howdy,

I don't know whether it would be acceptable to you but the NGS program TRANSLEV does take digital native format files and translates them into NGS formats. See http://www.ngs.noaa.gov/PC_PROD/pc_prod.shtml#Translev

Hope this helps,

DMM

Thats what I needed to know, thanks Jhenry. I have a line on an older version owned by another surveyor. If that falls thru, I see one on Ebay. The info on the version that works would be appreciated. Thanks to all who answered.

Alan,
I found the email from test/spectra tech support...see below.

What version of Foresight DXM are you running? There are known issues with the Leveling Reports in Foresight DXM 3.4. Unfortunately, at this time, the only work around is to downgrade to version 3.3.1 which can be found at the link below

http://internet-tdrs.trimble.com/TDRS/outgoing/200268626-c48a87e6958b/

I'm not sure if the link still works.
if not, send an email to me..its in my profile, I may be able to send you the install files. you'll need the dongle to use the software, the one from the latest version will work.
