I have done genealogy for a long time, but have now become interested in the Pre WW1 German cadastral system.
I am Googling it up and learning, but has anyone out there dabbled in it?
The Germans in the late 19th century made excellent maps, some of which can be found here:
It's hard to find property records though.
Thanks.

I am working in german cadaster and still have to work with documents starting from ~1840.
The map in your link above is not a cadastral map, it is a topographic map and for germany (Prussia) they have all been georeferenced here, also with different Date?ÿ?ÿslubdresden
Overview over German cadastre can be found here?ÿThe german cadastral system
Timeline and some cadastral map examples and timeline here?ÿWikipedia kataster
Depending on where in germany you are looking for early cadastral maps they could look like this?ÿKarte Hundisburg.jpg
These were the first property maps from ~ 1820-1870. In 1896 There were new instructions how to survey and the documentation quality increase rapidly. But these technical documentation access is limited to public licensed surveyors and federal authorities ONLY.
Each of the 16 federal state has its own website for geoinformation but there is one central website you can search in?ÿGeoportal
This is fantastic information. My wife is a German language teacher and we have both travelled to Germany multiple times. Do you work in Germany??ÿ

And a lot of geoinformation in our federal state can be found here?ÿGeoproxy
For information on cadastral Parcel you could use:
Starten -->zoom in to scale smaller Then 1:2000, use + in the upper left corner--> on the right Open '+' Liegenschaftskataster alkis/einzellayer/?ÿ ?ÿactivate 'Angaben zum Fr?¬hst?¬ck' and 'flurst?¬ck'. With the 'i' behind 'flurst?¬ck' you can get information like size and number of parcel. Information like owner is not shown, just limited to licensed surveyor, government or legitimate interest.
Hi Mike,
thanks a lot for the links, I did not notice before there were or is at least one German member here.
We have been working on a underground High Voltage Cable project from Luttich to Achen and I have been looking around for info to convert our stake out data from Belgian Lambert72 co??rdinates to the German System for the Achen Region.?ÿ It took me a while to figure it out, if I had only tought of posting it here, I guess that would have worked a lot faster.
regards from Belgium,
Christof.

Hi Christof,?ÿ
don't known how accurate your transformation has to be, but i know a software that has a lot of standard transformation sets worldwide included. Also datum conversation lambert72 to German etrs89/utm or lagestatus177 in Nordrhein-Westfalen. Like i said, dont know how accurate Transformation is, but maybe will help you for the future.
