Wendell let me know if you see anything you like.
Wow, I particularly like the very first one and the one with the T-2 (?) in the high rise. Great shots!
Great photos, Scott. Reminds me again of what I've always thought about surveying. Especially heavy construction surveying; days and weeks of tedium intermingled with hours of sheer terror.
Wow. I got nothing more to say, just WOW.
fooken brilliant set of photos...I hope you have High Rez of those...
Scott,
If I do recall correctly I was going over the GWB on 6/9/2005...lol...I should have waved..
Scott: excellent series of pics.
Interesting sidelight on the third picture (6-9-06) where Scott is leaning on the eastern edge of the Manhattan tower of the GW Bridge.
On the right side of the photo is the Castle Gardens, where , on May 12, 2006, a 150 foot long section of the 75 foot high retaining wall collapsed, burying the northbound lanes of the Henry Hudson Parkway and a number of cars parked on a service road. Luckily, no one was injured, but the Parkway was closed for several days, and the buried cars were not uncovered for months. The wall was rebuilt completely and back to normal in early 2008.
The wall had been settling for years, and a program of monitoring was underway at the time of the collapse.
Just to the right of Scott's elbow can be seen the tower of The Cloisters, the branch of The Metropolitan Museum of Art devoted to the art and architecture of medieval Europe.
Cowboy I remember that event...we drive by there a lot, usually to avoid traffic on 95...Very evident where the 'new' wall is vs. the old wall..glad nobody got hurt..
Indeed Wow!
and an ineresting life in surveying,
