I am looking at Plotters. Used to using a HP 1050C. Reliable, ink is expensive but for large plotters not too bad. I have seen these HP Z6100's with 40GB of hard drive space to save jobs and it uses 8 ink cartridges. Is there a balance between the old plotters and the new ones. Anybody have any suggestions moving forward on type, size and cost?

HP 1055 on ebay in Huntsville, AL for $500

This is what I run and has been pretty solid.

When my HP450C broke I went low scale and bought a HP110C. It makes great plots, but is slow and noisy. But for the $1K or so new, it's good to have on hand for the few mylar plots I need to make, or the review plot I want to look at.

If I need to submit multiple copies for whatever reason (agency approvals), I send it to the local store and it's about $2 a sheet. But I get goofed up with the pdf scale never being right, and I don't like that.

I have gone the way of not plotting in office anything over ledger 11x17 size. All other is sent out the a print shop.

It has freed up my office space and then there are all those supplies that I don't need to stock.

I plot full size to a PDF and proof read on my screen, then email to the print shop.

😉

Ditto here. I've printed 2 jobs in 2 years at the local tech print shop. They aren't making their living off of me, but I'm sure glad they are there.

I use the Brother MFC-6490CW and get the ink at www.supermediastore.com
Brother knock off cartridges I don't have ANY complaints about these cartridges.

I use the HP 110 plus. Not too noisy, fairly quick, ink seems to last and I use a 24" roll of bond paper. Works very good across the network and I really have no problems with it.

If you would be interested in a re-furbished plotter check out this site. I bought an hp 800 42" plotter from them and have had good service. Their tech support has been very good. Would buy from them again.
