We used to have a source for plastic rebar caps that had a more square bottom on the cap, resulting in a overall thicker sidewall. All I am seeing on the caps now are the type that we orders many years ago that ha the very thin sidewalls, and it tapers to a point. This may be better for inserting inside pipe, but we use rebar.

I have to order caps tonight, anyone know where I can get the thicker, or square bottom caps that are hot-stamped with black lettering?

Thanks a bunch.

I am happy with this company - RingGuard. They are also known as Mountain Mold & Die.

I use http://www.berntsen.com/Go-Shopping/Surveying/Survey-Markers for my caps.

I like their caps as well. They have a wide raised shoulder around the edge with the lettering molded around the circumference of the recess in the center. This gives room for more lettering than on traditional hot stamped caps. The lettering isn't black, but a quick smear of dirt gives good contrast.

Try Morasse caps from Berntsen. No UV deterioration after 28 years at 7000' altitude - can't beat that!!

OK, finally trying to upload an image see if this works...

Left is what I always seem to see, and the one on the right is the type I am looking for.

The ones like Steve's are interesting, and I will have to sleep on that one.

The base of the cap I posted is tapered not square like you want. The caps I have are sold under the RingGuard brand but the parent company is Mountain Mold and Die. They've come out with another product based on customer demand called Maxxcap which is a 3" cap made for rebar. I bet they would be willing to produce the square base caps as well if you contact them.
