I've used both Schonstedt models for years. The old square top model is indestructible and is my favorite, but the pistol grip is convenient at times. If you have to work in snow at all the old model works great because you can poke it down through the snow.

I always liked the old square-top. I tried the smaller ones a couple of times, and didn't particularly like them, but I could imagine I never used them enough to get used to them.
