paying for college

This is how we are paying for our daughter college and I hope you are all using this, but just in case. Look at form IRS 8863. Its the American Opportunity Credit.

Must be something semi-new. I've never heard of that.
I just got plain ole student loans.

BigE. That why I do this. Its not new but its amazing how many don't know about it. We used It for our oldest daughter who graduated 8 years ago.

I was in college late 70s and early 80s. Perhaps that wasn't available then.

Was in school about that time. When I started college it cost $99 for full time. Last term it cost me $1800 for full time for the daughter.

Another nice thing is just about any relative can use this for someone in the family.

There is also the Lifelong Learning Credit on the same form. I have not used this but it looks like anybody at any time can use this for education.

Thanks for posting that -- I wasn't aware of it. I hope it's still in effect when my son graduates high school in 2016!
